East London Craft guerrillas and Mrs Bear’s swapshop join forces

An excellent crafty / swapping afternoon was had by all at The Old Queens Head,
Islington on Saturday. The festive themed crafting involved knitting, crotchet and
felting, open to beginners and the more experienced, it was a hive of activity whilst
Lisa dj spun some cool tunes!

It was also a great space for swapshop, with loyal swappers and new customers
raiding the rails for some fab xmas outfits! Check out the photos.
Looks like we may be moving to E17 after christmas so watch this space!

Swishing studio raises over £1000 for charity Bliss at Twisted Thread 2009!

The new “Swishing studio” at this years knitting and stitching show proved to be a huge success with over £1000 raised for the premature baby charity Bliss!

We had a huge variety of swaps including some amazing homemade pieces and beautiful hand-knitted Aran jumpers. Swappers also had the opportunity to buy jumble items and take them to Barley (Fabrications) for customisation techniques or Sissy Rooney’s street style surgery for some cool spray painting! We loved the scull sprayed Sewing boxes!

The show also exhibits the work of up and coming textile artists as well as more
established artists. There was some amazing work on display, I especially liked the
work of trained tailor Susie Vickery, so intricate and original, check it out:
